This USB extension cable (plug A on socket A) corresponds to the USB 3.0 specification (SuperSpeed) and is therefore suitable for all USB 3.0 devices. It is backward compatible with the older USB standards 1.1 and 2.0. Compared with older USB cable, the USB 3.0 cable have two more pairs for data and an additional ground connection. Thus, the USB 3.0 connectors have five additional contacts.
